INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Bridging the gap between the classroom and the workplace, the SoHo Playhouse Internship Program provides undergraduate, graduate, and post-baccalaureate students the opportunity to gain experience working in one of the most storied non-profit off-Broadway theater. Internships are available in a variety of departments, such as General Management, Production Management, Tech, Press, and Marketing.
Our intern program is designed to give power to the intern, encouraging them to be proactive with where and how they want to help. We will often invite interns to attend weekly meetings featuring speakers from productions or partnered theatres, a Building and History Tour, career development, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion seminars, and the opportunity for job-shadowing and mentoring. Interns can also receive tickets to SoHo Playhouse productions, subject to availability.

DEVELOPMENT INTERN

If you answered yes to some of the questions above, you might be interested in this opportunity. SoHo Playhouse Inc. is seeking a qualified intern to work with our Development Team for a very exciting fundraising mission.
We’ve been focused on a very specific type of artist who is able to convey personal truth especially in these “truthless” times. And it’s more important than ever before. We need artists who have the courage to break rank and speak their personal truths. We are launching a fundraising campaign on February 27 to raise $250,000 for our Fall 2019 season - which is to find the next Phoebe, Daniel Sloss, or Hannah Gadsby and give them an opportunity to perform on our intimate stage later this year. Our Artistic Director is traveling the world for 6 months looking for those artists.
You would be working directly with the Director of Development on this campaign targeting existing and new donors. Over the course of the next few weeks; there will be celebrities, billionaires, New Yorkers, feminists, politicians, etc. coming through the doors of SoHo Playhouse to watch Fleabag. It’s a gold mine of an opportunity. If you have passion and energy for something like this, please apply.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research nightly prospects/patrons who could be potential donors
Come up with strategic ways to approach potential prospects in person on performance evenings
Work with the Director of Development on pitching and meeting preparation
Assist Development staff in organizing day-to-day communications with individual and company donors
Network with Fleabag audience before show and after show, setting up meetings for Director of Development and getting contact information
Draft and post on social media
Communicate regularly via email and telephone with donors
Create community initiatives which could be used for potential donors
Research prospects and projects to maximize potential of our fundraising campaign
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Passionate about wanting to make a difference and do something good in the world
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Strong research skills
Experience working with databases would be preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
Absolute discretion when dealing with high-profile donors and patrons
An understanding of SoHo Playhouse
The position will be part-time or full-time and is unpaid. Academic credit can be arranged.
