The Village! A disco Daydream

The Village! A Disco Daydream is a meta-musical comedy filled with high jinx, low kinks, and go-go boys. 1979, New York City. Trade, a hustler living in “Old George’s” apartment, brings home his latest trick, Steve, an earnest NYU student as friends, neighbors, and addicts come by to drink, drug, flirt, dream, and dish about love, life, death, and taxis. The Village! a dance-filled disco comedy with a crazy collage of characters was written by Nora Burns, directed by Adam Pivirotto with choreography by Robin Carrigan, and features a dynamic and diverse cast of actors and dancers.

The Village! features sets by Steven Hammel and costumes by Paul Alexander. The cast features Jack Barrow, Chuck Blasius, Kevin Boseman, Glace Chase, Ashley Chavonne, Antony Cherrie, Eileen Dover, JMV, Chris Patterson Rosso, and Drew Timberlake Hill.

Nora Burns (writer) is a writer, performer, comedian, actress, and archivist who has lived in New York City since 1979. She is a founding member of the comedy groups Unitard and the Nellie Olesons. Her solo show David’s Friend had an extended run at LaMama Theater where it received rave reviews. Her most recent show Candied Camera LIVE! had a sold-out run at LaMama in Feb 2024.
        
Adam Pivirotto (director) is a theater/filmmaker based in New York City. He was director/producer of drag performer Cleo Berlin’s cabaret series, presented at Pangea through TWEED Theaterworks. His short films have been screened at Richmond International Film Fest, Genreblast Film Fest, NYC Poetry Festival, LA Cinefest, Sixth Sense Film Festival, Filmshortage, and Shondaland. His one act This Place was presented at Dixon Place HOT Festival. He has been a featured director for the Visible Poetry Project and completed an arts and education fellowship at NYU Abu Dhabi.


Robin Carrigan is an NYC choreographer/writer/performer/ceramic artist. Choreography includes “Club Dada/Kabaret Kaput” LaMama and Dixon Place, “Trick” feature film, “Hater” Ohio Theater, “Bedbugs!!!” NYMF, “1966” El Flamingo, “Jesus and Mandy” FringeNYC (co-written with Eric Bernat), “Blood Orgy of the Carnival Queens!!!”(co-written with Jim Fall)  Vortex/Sanford Meisner and Hamlet of Bank St., “Girls Town” (writer) Actor’s Playhouse, drag performer Love Connie, Ronnie Spector, music videos, concert staging, and “Nan and Her Boys”.  Since 2019, she has been collaborating with Nora Burns and Adam Pivirotto on The Village, A Disco Daydream! at Dixon Place, and Candied Camera Live! at La Mama and Red Eye. Graduated summa cum laude from NYU Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Dance.
